Now that we’re approaching Winter Break, we’re sharing some ideas for fun and educational activities you can do at home. We asked our pre-k teachers and staff for their best suggestions!
Make Salt Dough Ornaments. These are an inexpensive and fun way to make ornaments and memories! All you need is flour, salt, water, and an oven for baking. Add a little paint and glitter and take it to the next level!
Read holiday or winter-themed books out loud. This is a fun way to bring the family together. Find books by browsing your local library or bookstore! Learn about different countries and what and how they celebrate in December.
Do a Family Kindness Challenge! See who can do the most acts before the end of Winter Break. Examples include collecting items for care packages for people in need, making cards for senior citizen homes, and donating to charity. One teacher even made an Acts of Kindness calendar with ideas for a whole month!
Make Pine Cone Bird Feeders. If the weather allows, go outside and enjoy the season – maybe even watching birds who come to the feeder!
Attend local events – it’s a great way to get out of the house and enjoy all the things our community has to offer! Visit Charlotte on the Cheap’s website for a list of holiday happenings, or ask your friends and neighbors!
Thanks to the teachers and staff who shared their suggestions!
